What our clients say about us

"I would thoroughly recommend Mbit to any creative team. Ali is a really engaging speaker, and the whole team gave positive feedback on the day.  Some people found the meditations particularly helpful, others preferred the creative exercises, but everyone got something out of it.  Ali and Ashleigh were happy to tailor the day around our needs and converted even the most sceptical to seeing the creative thought process in a new way! I'm looking forward to applying some of their techniques to the workplace."

Anna Kersey, Promotions Supervisor at QVC

"Mbit is supported by a huge amount of research and offers a compelling, holistic approach to creativity and calm in business and life. The approach was both engaging and effective, exceeding the expectations of our entire group. A great example of the practical power of holistic thinking. These guys are genuine pioneers."

Jamison Combs, Founder and Managing Director of Natural Balance Foods (Nakd Bars)

"Open Meditation have lead mindfulness sessions for Wolff Olins as part of WOW - our internal wellbeing programme. Ali and Ashleigh kicked off the session by running through 'the science bit' before leading us through a couple of mindfulness journeys. Even the skeptical amongst our group found themselves extolling the benefits of the lunchtime sessions and feeling refreshed and ready to take on the afternoon. Open Meditation are professional and passionate about what they do and the sessions are a great way to learn about and experience mindfulness. Ali's storytelling is wonderful too!"

Ellen O'Connor, Head of Learning and Development at Wolff Olins

“Working with Open Meditation on our annual Wellbeing Week was a real pleasure. Alexander is a skilled speaker who delivers multifaceted new material in an engaging and thought-provoking way. The feedback from the sessions was fantastic. Thank you so much."
Victoria Baldwin Events Manager, Chiswick Park Enjoy-Work
"Great and really well received!"

Mbit™ - Mindfulness Based Ideation Training

How do we come up with a new ideas? This seems like simple question, but it has taken science decades to begin answering it. The standard approach in business is to brainstorm. However, recent research has demonstrated that brainstorming to come up with new ideas is woefully outdated.

Why? Many reasons, but in part because it is a process designed for sifting through ideas, not ideation (creating new ideas). It also puts our brains in a ‘closed’ mode in which it is difficult for our subconscious to get a word in as the conscious mind is feverishly trying to solve the problem. Actionable creativity can’t be forced out like this - it doesn't come when you want it to, it comes when it's ready to.

In fact, it arrives in Eureka! moments. Ideas hit you when you're taking a shower, driving or walking in the park. Specifically, you have new ideas when you get out of your own way and let your unconscious (95% of your computing power) work its magic.

Mbit™ harnesses these insights to give professionals in all areas a competitive edge. We do this in an experiential one day workshop that introduces you and your team to mindfulness and the latest research in creativity. We teach you specially-designed techniques, explore how creativity actually works and how you can apply mindfulness to the creative process. We then provide you with an audio course that will help you practice daily and give you the power to switch into an ‘open’ mode at will. We can also run longer courses that are tailored to your specific challenges.

Because it's so far upstream in the strategic process, Mbit™ fits neatly into whatever framework you're currently using. It's very different from traditional training strategies, because mindfulness fundamentally rewires the brain, rather than briefly training it for a specific task. The result is a permanent increase in creative energy and a significant return on investment.

Workplace Mindfulness for Wellbeing and Resilience

Read our recently-published article in HR Zone Magazine about mindfulness and resilience in the workplace!

Our offer to workplaces is very simple: we teach your employees how to take control of their own well-being. Our simple process involves working with you to identify the needs specific to your workplace, helping you engage your employees around mindfulness, and creating a bespoke 6 week course to meet your needs. We can also book a room for a day and work with your staff one to one in 30 minute slots. Whatever the format, our approach is based on teaching simple techniques they can use anywhere and give them access to our guided meditation MP3s, a reading list and the option to email us with questions at no extra charge. This gives them the option to develop a practice in their own time that has a tangible impact on their well-being and your bottom line.

How does it work? Most people think stress is one of the leading causes of workplace absenteeism and decreased productivity. This view is misguided; it's not stress that's the problem, it's not knowing how to react to stress. In the quest for productivity, many companies have developed a culture that puts unsustainable pressure on employees, gives them no tools with which to manage it, and ends up costing more than it earns. Mindfulness meditation is clinically proven to reduce stress by teaching people how to approach it healthily. Its business benefits include:

  • Increased concentration
  • Reduced absenteeism due to stress and stress related illnesses
  • Enhances employee well-being and inter office relationships
  • Increased cognitive function and problem solving ability
  • Improved immune system function
  • Increased creativity
  • An effective way to meet CSR objectives
  • More resilient employees

Around 10 million working days are lost each year in the UK due to stress. Most experts agree that stress accounts for about 25% of illness related absenteeism. Can any of us afford to keep pushing this under the rug? Stress isn't something that employees should have to deal with by themselves; it's something that all business, no matter how large or small, can tackle. The results can be extraordinary, including a significant increase in concentration and productivity.

We are also qualified as workplace well-being coaches and run longer half-day and day mindfulness intensives in which we teach people specific workplace meditations and techniques that empower, build confidence and dramatically increase concentration.
